近年国際情勢が悪化しているため、軍事的役割を担うべきであるという意見もあります。しかし国際問題を解決するための武力行使は、日本が築きあげてきた平和国家を否定することになります。外交や交渉によって国際的な地位を築いていくこそが、真の平和への第一歩といえます。

I suppose that Japan should not play a more active military role in world affairs. I'd like to explain my opinion from the two perspectives. One of the perspectives is how the society has changed regarding this issue, and another is what is a possible counterargument against my opinion.

Firstly, the society has changed largely. The past common sense and experience are not always applicable to the modern society. We need to change our way of thinking as the society changes.

After World War II, Japan started out as a peaceful country and has achieved the economic development under the military protection of the U.S. The government has encouraged a peaceful diplomatic policy and has progressed Japan's international status without using weapons and army. Japan has contributed to international issues by providing fund, human resource and technologies.

Secondly, this topic is controversial and I think everyone never agrees on a single opinion. Everyone has each position and experience. It is better to consider opinion from different viewpoints before concluding than to ignore it.

Some say that we must play a more active military role because of the worsening international security in recent years. However, use of the force to solve international issues would deny a peaceful nation which Japan has established. It is a first step toward real peace to establish Japan's international status by diplomacy and negotiations.

In conclusion, I believe that Japan should not play a more active military role in world affairs. In addition to that, it may be a good idea to make some kind of consensus in the society about this issue in order to make the society better. Thank you.
