私は「現代社会は利己的行動を助長している」と思います。私の意見を2つの観点から説明したいと思います。その観点の一つは「この問題に対して社会がどう変わってきたか」、もう一つは「私の意見に対する想定される反論は何か」です。

まず初めに、社会は大きく変わってきています。過去の常識や経験が常に現代社会に適用できるとは限りません。社会の変化に応じて、私たちは考え方を変える必要があります。

資本主義は日本経済を大きく発展させました。一方で、社会における競争も厳しさを増してきています。その結果、自分の利益ばかりを追求し、他人に無関心になりがちです。

次に、この問題は賛否両論あるものであり、全ての人が同じ意見に同意することはないと思います。それぞれの人にはそれぞれの立場や経験があります。異なる視点からの意見を無視するのではなく、それを踏まえて結論を出すことは大切なことです。

確かに以前よりもボランティア活動に積極的な人も増えてきています。しかし、パソコンや携帯の普及により、対面のコミュニケーションをすることが減り、人間関係が希薄になりつつあります。家族、隣人、地域社会にもっと関心を持っていた古きよき時代を振り返ってみることは良いことかも知れません。

結論として、私は「現代社会は利己的行動を助長している」と確信しております。加えて、社会をより良くするためには、この問題に関して社会で何らかの合意を形成することは良い考えかもしれません。以上です。

I suppose that modern society encourages selfishness. I'd like to explain my opinion from the two perspectives. One of the perspectives is how the society has changed regarding this issue, and another is what is a possible counterargument against my opinion.

Firstly, the society has changed largely. The past common sense and experience are not always applicable to the modern society. We need to change our way of thinking as the society changes.

Capitalism has developed Japan's economy greatly. On the other hand, the competition has also become severe in the society. As a result, people tend to pursue only their profit and be indifferent to others.

Secondly, this topic is controversial and I think everyone never agrees on a single opinion. Everyone has each position and experience. It is better to consider opinion from different viewpoints before concluding than to ignore it.

Actually, some have been more actively involved in volunteer works than before. However, people have had less chance to communicate face to face, and human relations have become weak as personal computers and mobile phones has widely spread. It might be a good idea to look back on the good old days when people were more interested in their families, neighbors and local communities.

In conclusion, I believe that modern society encourages selfishness. In addition to that, it may be a good idea to make some kind of consensus in the society about this issue in order to make the society better. Thank you.
