確かに男女雇用機会均等法により、女性は男性と同じように働く機会があるという意見もあります。しかしながら、それは形式的なものに過ぎず、多くの企業は男性を早く昇進させる傾向にあります。政府はもっと男女で公平な扱いを実現させるために、より効果的な対策をする必要があるといえます

I suppose that Japan should make more efforts to achieve gender equality. I'd like to explain my opinion from the two perspectives. One of the perspectives is how the society has changed regarding this issue, and another is what is a possible counterargument against my opinion.

Firstly, the society has changed largely. The past common sense and experience are not always applicable to the modern society. We need to change our way of thinking as the society changes.

In the old days, it used to be common that men worked in the society and women do housework including child care. As a result of the women's social progress in recent years, some women have become presidents and executives in Japan. However, female workers often quit their jobs at pregnancy because the companies do not support them enough. The government must encourage the companies to give them better working environment.

Secondly, this topic is controversial and I think everyone never agrees on a single opinion. Everyone has each position and experience. It is better to consider opinion from different viewpoints before concluding than to ignore it.

Some say that the Equal Employment Opportunity Law makes women have as many chances to work as men. However, it is just formal, and many companies still tend to have men promote earlier. The government must take effective measures more to realize fair treatment between women and men.

In conclusion, I believe that Japan should make more efforts to achieve gender equality. In addition to that, it may be a good idea to make some kind of consensus in the society about this issue in order to make the society better. Thank you.
