I suppose that the use of alternative medicine should not be restricted. I'd like to explain my opinion from the two perspectives. One of the perspectives is how the society has changed regarding this issue, and another is what is a possible counterargument against my opinion.

Firstly, the society has changed largely. The past common sense and experience are not always applicable to the modern society. We need to change our way of thinking as the society changes.

Since adopting Western medicine, Japanese people have suported its effectiveness. But at the same time, we know that it cannot cure all deseases. Some patients prefer alternative medicine because it usually has fewer side effects than Western medicine. Futhermore, it can be hope for patients whom Western medicine gives up curing.

Secondly, this topic is controversial and I think everyone never agrees on a single opinion. Everyone has each position and experience. It is better to consider opinion from different viewpoints before concluding than to ignore it.Japan has adopted the alternative medicine such as the traditional Chinese medicine and medicinal herb from the ancient times.

Some Western researchers point out that alternative medicine lacks scientific evidences and its effectiveness is not proved. It is true that it hasn't academically verified, but alternative medicine such as traditional Chinese medicine and medicinal herbs has long history from the ancient times. I think if it was really useless, it couldn't last until today.

In conclusion, I believe that the use of alternative medicine should not be restricted. In addition to that, it may be a good idea to make some kind of consensus in the society about this issue in order to make the society better. Thank you.
