I suppose that professional athletes have a duty to serve as positive role models. I'd like to explain my opinion from the two perspectives. One of the perspectives is how the society has changed regarding this issue, and another is what is a possible counterargument against my opinion.

Firstly, the society has changed largely. The past common sense and experience are not always applicable to the modern society. We need to change our way of thinking as the society changes.

People have enjoyed sports since a long time ago, and in recent years, the media often report athletes' behavior and way of thinking as well as the results of their games. We are deeply moved by their serious attitude to sports, but on the contrary, we are badly disappointed in their bad behavior.

Secondly, this topic is controversial and I think everyone never agrees on a single opinion. Everyone has each position and experience. It is better to consider opinion from different viewpoints before concluding than to ignore it.

It is true that athletes are responsible only for their results, but for their private life. However, we are inspired not only by their scores, but also by their way of living. I want athletes to be the people whom children want to be in the future.
