I suppose that Japan's lack of natural resources will become a serious problem in the future. I'd like to explain my opinion from the two perspectives. One of the perspectives is how the society has changed regarding this issue, and another is what is a possible counterargument against my opinion.

Firstly, the society has changed largely. The past common sense and experience are not always applicable to the modern society. We need to change our way of thinking as the society changes.

In recent years, developing countries have consumed more natural resources than ever as they have rapidly grown economically. Japan's demand depends on import because of its limited resources. It means that Japan's economic is easily influenced by the international situation because it is possible that the export could be restrained.

Secondly, this topic is controversial and I think everyone never agrees on a single opinion. Everyone has each position and experience. It is better to consider opinion from different viewpoints before concluding than to ignore it.

Some say that there is nothing to worry about in the future because renewable energy is rapidly being developing in Japan. However, it is expected to be impossible to cover all energy demand in Japan by the renewable energy alone in the near future. Therefore, Japan's dependence especially on imported energy resources could be a serious economic problem in the case of the steep rise in prices of crude oil and natural gas.

In conclusion, I believe that Japan's lack of natural resources will become a serious problem in the future. In addition to that, it may be a good idea to make some kind of consensus in the society about this issue in order to make the society better. Thank you.
