I suppose that the use of surveillance cameras in public places is a good thing. I'd like to explain my opinion from the two perspectives. One of the perspectives is how the society has changed regarding this issue, and another is what is a possible counterargument against my opinion.

Firstly, the society has changed largely. The past common sense and experience are not always applicable to the modern society. We need to change our way of thinking as the society changes.

In the recent years, the performance of surveillance cameras has steadily improved. Therefore, surveillance cameras are able to gather useful information effectively to solve crime. In some cases, criminals were arrested due to clues recorded by surveillance cameras.

Secondly, this topic is controversial and I think everyone never agrees on a single opinion. Everyone has each position and experience. It is better to consider opinion from different viewpoints before concluding than to ignore it.

There are apprehensive voices that the installment of security camera might violate privacy. However, it is virtually impossible to prevent all crimes by police alone. Surveillance cameras are be able to work effectively in places where the police can't cover. Furthermore, people can have a sense of safety with the deterrent effect on criminal acts.

In conclusion, I believe that the use of surveillance cameras in public places is a good thing. In addition to that, it may be a good idea to make some kind of consensus in the society about this issue in order to make the society better. Thank you.
