I suppose that the study of literature is important in modern society. I'd like to explain my opinion from the two perspectives. One of the perspectives is how the society has changed regarding this issue, and another is what is a possible counterargument against my opinion.

Firstly, the society has changed largely. The past common sense and experience are not always applicable to the modern society. We need to change our way of thinking as the society changes.

In modern society, many researchers have studied literature. It is useful to study literature for understanding the politics and social circumstances when it was written.

Secondly, this topic is controversial and I think everyone never agrees on a single opinion. Everyone has each position and experience. It is better to consider opinion from different viewpoints before concluding than to ignore it.

Some say that the study of literature does not directly profit the society, and there are many other fields that should be studied more. However, literature is basis of culture and the study mentally enriches our lives in the society.

In conclusion, I believe that the study of literature is important in modern society. In addition to that, it may be a good idea to make some kind of consensus in the society about this issue in order to make the society better. Thank you.
