I suppose that commercialization has had a negative effect on professional sports. I'd like to explain my opinion from the two perspectives. One of the perspectives is how the society has changed regarding this issue, and another is what is a possible counterargument against my opinion.

Firstly, the society has changed largely. The past common sense and experience are not always applicable to the modern society. We need to change our way of thinking as the society changes.

In recent years, professional sports has been in close contact with sponsor companies. The companies try to enhance the advertising effect by the good image of athletes. As a result, only particular sports which are popular among people are promoted.

Secondly, this topic is controversial and I think everyone never agrees on a single opinion. Everyone has each position and experience. It is better to consider opinion from different viewpoints before concluding than to ignore it.

Some say that commercialization gives merits to both athletes and sponsor companies. However, the financial aid from the companies gives the athletes great advantage because they can concentrate on the practice with better environment, and it contravenes the spirit of sports which puts great emphasis on fairness.

In conclusion, I believe that commercialization has had a negative effect on professional sports. In addition to that, it may be a good idea to make some kind of consensus in the society about this issue in order to make the society better. Thank you.
