I suppose that democratic nations should not cut diplomatic relations with nondemocratic nations. I'd like to explain my opinion from the two perspectives. One of the perspectives is how the society has changed regarding this issue, and another is what is a possible counterargument against my opinion.

Firstly, the society has changed largely. The past common sense and experience are not always applicable to the modern society. We need to change our way of thinking as the society changes.

In recent years, international societies have prioritized democracy to promote regional stability and development. In fact, some East European and African countries recently democratize their political system. It is necessary for international societies to have nondemocratic nations democratize. Therefore, diplomatic relations are important.

Secondly, this topic is controversial and I think everyone never agrees on a single opinion. Everyone has each position and experience. It is better to consider opinion from different viewpoints before concluding than to ignore it.

Some say that diplomatic talk with nondemocratic nations is waste of time because they tend to ignore international rules. However, international societies should have initiative with diplomacy and financial assistance, and it will establish a lot of new democratic nations and give peace to the world.
