I suppose that Japan can not effectively reduce its dependence on oil. I'd like to explain my opinion from the two perspectives. One of the perspectives is how the society has changed regarding this issue, and another is what is a possible counterargument against my opinion.

Firstly, the society has changed largely. The past common sense and experience are not always applicable to the modern society. We need to change our way of thinking as the society changes.

Japan has no other choice to be reliant on imported supplies of oils because of energy shortage. As reducing Japan's dependence on oil will cause a great problem for the transportation system and the decline in manufacturing depending on oils, it is hard to get away from the standard of society depending on it.

Secondly, this topic is controversial and I think everyone never agrees on a single opinion. Everyone has each position and experience. It is better to consider opinion from different viewpoints before concluding than to ignore it.

Some say that the development of the regenerated energy will make it possible to reduce Japan's dependence on oil. However, as it is not cost-effective compared to oils, company and society must incur substantial costs to operate and keep going. Therefore, it may have a negative impact on economic development in Japan.

In conclusion, I believe that Japan can not effectively reduce its dependence on oil. In addition to that, it may be a good idea to make some kind of consensus in the society about this issue in order to make the society better. Thank you.
